JOHN DAVID OGGER, Royal Oak, Ferndale and Detroit

John David Ogger age 81, former resident of Royal Oak, Ferndale and Detroit, passed away on May 19, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.  He was born in Union, New Jersey, and was preceded in death by his parents Harold Hubert Ogger and Ruth Naomi Ogger, and his older brothers, Harold Richard Ogger and Robert Ogger.  He is survived by his children, Sara Jean Ogger of New York City and David Barrett Ogger of Lapeer, Michigan.  A graduate of Deckerville High School and Wayne State University, Ogger worked as an analytical chemist for the Detroit District office of the FDA, where he was a leading expert in dioxins, and for industry.  Mr. Ogger was a Commissioner for regional Boy Scouts of America councils in Detroit and Tucson, and was also active with the BSA in Mena, AR.  His final resting place is Indianfields Township Cemetery of Caro, Michigan, beside his parents.  A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. ETHEL V. ECKFELD, Caro

Ethel V. Eckfeld of Caro, age 97, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Covenant Health Care – Cooper in Saginaw.  She was born in Section 31 of Almer Township on January 14, 1917, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and M. Viola Sayers.  Ethel attended the Wright School beginning in September 1922, and completed Kindergarten through 8th grade there.  She went on to graduate from Caro High School in 1934.  In 1936, Ethel was employed by USDA working out of the Court House in Caro.  In 1975 she retired after thirty-nine years of service.  In 1938 Ethel was united in marriage with L. Woodrow Vandervoort, and he preceded her in death in January of 1940.  In 1944, she married Roland M. Eckfeld, and they resided on his farm in Unionville.  He preceded her in death in December of 1995.  Ethel was a member of the Unionville Moravian Church since 1944 and was church secretary for over thirty-seven years.  She liked to sew, and after retiring completed quilts for many of her family members.  Later, she sewed lap robes, mostly for veterans in the Saginaw and Battle Creek Hospitals.  Ethel is survived by her brother, Harry Sayers of Fenton; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters, George and William Sayers, Irma Fiske, Marian Capling, Hazel Montei and Shirley Sayers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Unionville Moravian Church with Pastor Trina Holmberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Moravian Cemetery in Unionville. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Unionville Moravian Church. Myrna M. Barabas, Dover, PA

Myrna M. Barabas of Dover, PA, age 96, passed away on June 22, 2014 at Providence Place of Dover. Myrna was born December 7, 1917 to Norman and Elsie (Rogner) Swerk in Bloomfield Township, Saginaw, MI. Myrna attended Saginaw High School, Saginaw, MI. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vassar Women’s Club. Myrna married Andrew A. Barabas on February 23, 1946 in Vassar, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Myrna is survived by a daughter, Ellen A. (Harry) Johnsey; two grandchildren, Allison (Chad) Murren and Megan Johnsey; and one great-grandchild, Alivia Murren. A memorial service will be held on June 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Place of Dover with final burial in Vassar, Michigan at Riverside Cemetery in late summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Myrna’s memory to Heartland Hospice in York, PA or to the American Cancer Society.

Michael “Mikey” Woolworth, age 26, of Vassar, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with cremation to follow. Michael’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm. On Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family.  Michael was born November 28, 1987, in Gainesville, Florida, the son of Mr. & Mrs. John and Christina (Betz) Woolworth. Michael attended Vassar High School until his junior year before moving to Tennessee. Mikey worked as a commercial roofer in Tennessee. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing, playing the guitar, and making people laugh.  Left to cherish his memory, daughter, Adaleigh Rayne and son, Aaron Dayne Woolworth and their mother, Lindsey McMeen; parents, John and Christina Woolworth; three siblings; Jonathan and wife, Kylie Woolworth, Colleen and husband, Kevin Stephens and Roger and wife, Dannelle Woolworth; eight nieces and nephews, Madisyn, Kenley, Falicite, Stephen, Coven, Kodi, Travis and Cameron; grandparents, James and Dawn Woolworth and several aunts, uncles cousins and friends.  Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Mary Betz, aunt, Sandi Kihn and his uncle, Paul Woolworth.  Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home or online at www.martinfuneralhome.com

 

 

JANICE A. RUBY, CARO, formerly of Saginaw

Janice A. Ruby of Caro, formerly of Saginaw, age 82, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 30, 2014 at her home. Janice was born July 14, 1931 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Gottlieb & Nancy (Butler) Schnarr. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw and was united in marriage with Duane W. Ruby on January 28, 1950 in Saginaw. Duane preceded Janice in death on June 1, 2013. Janice spent her early years as a volunteer for special needs children before beginning a career as a paraprofessional at the Tuscola Intermediate School District, retiring in 1998.  She is survived by six children and their spouses, Linda & Robert Tolfree of Reese, Steven Ruby of Saginaw, Janette Mossner of Caro, Cindy & Jeff Hawley of Mayville, Tom & Georgene Ruby of Caro, Pamela Forman of Caro; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Jacolin Matson of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. MARTHA SUE (SMITH) ELBERS, Reese

Martha Sue (Smith) Elbers, aged 75, of Reese, went to her eternal home with Jesus, early Wednesday mor-ning, July 2, 2014 at the Cartwright Center in Sagi-naw. She was born October 31, 1938, daughter of the late Arnold and Katherine Smith of Vassar and was a graduate of Vassar High School. She was married to Robert Elbers on December 29, 1956 and they had celebrated 57 years of marriage this past year. Bob predeceased her three weeks ago, June 8, 2014. Sue was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a woman of faith and passionate about service to others. As a member of the Reese United Methodist Church, Sue had chaired the Memorial and Worship Committees, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and decorated the church Sanctuary for many years. She enjoyed the beauty and serenity of God’s nature as an avid gardener. In the last five years of her life, she was grateful for the kindness that her caregivers provided.  Surviving Sue are her four children and their spouses: Brad (Christy) Elbers, Doug Elbers, Dean (Ruthie) Elbers and Steve (Laurie) Elbers, eight grandchildren: Jenny, Brandon, Troy, Trevor, Marcel, Ellie, Hollie and Ryan Elbers. Also surviving are two sisters: Diane (John) Schnell, Janet Warnick; and her brother, Greg Smith and his wife Dottie; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Spiekerman and her husband Verne, Carole Bricker, Betty Elbers and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Robert Warnick, Bill Elbers and Donald Bricker. A Funeral Service to celebrate Sue’s life will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 from the Reese United Methodist Church. Pastor Jon Guegeon will officiate. Private family committal services will take place Monday in the Denmark Township Cemetery in Reese. Sue’s family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the service. Sheila Spacht, Mt. Pleasant

Sheila Spacht, aged 72, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Prestige Centre due to complications of MS which she courageously battled for 48 years, having been first diagnosed in 1966.

Sheila was born on September 21, 1941 in Lebanon, Indiana to Doris and Harry Ramsower. She was a graduate of Caro High School and Central Michigan University, earning a Master’s in elementary education. She began her teaching career in East Grand Rapids. She then returned to CMU and was in charge of student teachers as a graduate assistant at the university lab school while working on her master’s. It was at this point in her life when she was diagnosed and began her battle with MS. Her next move was to a teaching position in Caro, Michigan. She met and married Pastor Clyde Spacht from Unionville in 1968. He was transferred to Sidney, Michigan, where they began their family and Sheila substitute taught, along with taking on the busy role of pastor’s wife. They adopted two children as infants, Greg and Beth (Sinclair). After retiring from the ministry, they moved to Mt. Pleasant to be close to her only brother, Gary and family. After Clyde’s passing, Sheila moved into the Prestige Centre in November of 2001. She was very content and greatly appreciated by the caring and considerate staff. Sheila was known for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, and determination to keep as active as possible. In the past, Sheila loved doing needlepoint, putting puzzles together, canning, sewing, recycling, and Bible study. One of Sheila’s fondest memories was her 3-month trip to Europe the summer she graduated from CMU. Sheila is survived by her brother Gary (Judy) Ramsower ; children, Beth Sinclair, Greg Spacht; granddaughter, Savannah Sinclair; two nieces, Tamara Johnston and Trisa (Shawn) Thrush and their five children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Spacht, and her parents, Doris and Harry Ramsower.

As per Sheila’s wishes, her body was donated to U of M for research. A memorial service for Sheila will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 320 S. Bradley St., Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the MS Society of Michigan or Woodland Hospice. Cynthia M. Horiski, Sebewaing

Cynthia M. Horiski, age 55, of Sebewaing, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.  Cynthia was born November 22, 1958 to Ernest and Hazel (Whidden) Nitz. She married Donald Horiski on June 10, 1978 in Bad Axe. She worked 20+ years at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro. She enjoyed going to Florida, going to the beach, looking at flowers, cooking, baking, and playing games with her grandchildren.  Cynthia is survived by her husband, Donald Horiski; children: Stacey (Todd) Bliss, Kellie (Leroy) Beecher, and Donald “DJ” (Shiloh) Horiski, Jr.; grandchildren: Zackary, Rylee and Jackson; siblings: Sharon (Elmer, Jr.) Schumacher, Frances (Darrell) Wiergowski, Nancy (Tom) McGrath, Pat Nitz, Randall (Christine) Nitz and Jennifer Nitz (Rich Spencer); and many nieces and nephews.  Cremation services were handled with care by Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.   Share a memory at www.jmfuneralhome.com


Francis M. Baker, JR., High Point, North Carolina, Formerly of Mayville

Francis Marion Baker, Jr., age 63 years, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.  He was born on January 2, 1951 in Tucson, Arizona, the son of the late Francis and Patricia (Fitzgerald) Baker.  On January 31, 2006, he married Meiko Candole, and she survives him.  Francis was the Associate Dean at Independence University in Utah.  He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his family.  Surviving family include his wife, Meiko; children, John Baker, Christopher (Frimrose) Baker, Ashley Baker and Alyssa Baker; grandchildren, Jaiden and Jairec Baker, and one other grandchild on the way; also surviving are his siblings, Patricia (Ron) Akom, Barbara Baker, Joan (Jack) Knowlton, Kathleen Baker and Robert (Carol) Baker.  Francis was preceded in death by his brother, James.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar.  Pastor Daniel J. Thorpe officiating.  Private burial will follow at Fremont Township Cemetery.  The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of the service.

 

 

Lena Elizabeth (Marra) Murry, East Lansing, formerly of Caro

Lena Murry passed away on July 6, 2014 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan at the age of 95. She was born on January 10, 1919 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, to Roy and Mary Marra. They moved to Michigan when Lena was 2 years old. She became a naturalized citizen in 1949. Lena and Horace Murry were married on December 28, 1936 in Akron, MI. Their life together was served in faithful ministry at several United Methodist Churches in the Detroit Conference and in Florida. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2001. Horace and Lena had two children, Roy (Betty) Murry and Geraldine (Lewis) Tibbits. She had close relationships with her four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and Lena’s first great-great-grandson will arrive in October. Also surviving are one nephew and three nieces. Also she was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Inglis. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 9, 11:00 a.m. at Pennway Church of God, 1101 E. Cavanaugh, Lansing. Interment will follow at Novesta Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Dorothy B. (Stein) Miller, Vassar, Michigan

Dorothy Borden Miller, age 95 years, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.  She was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Edith (Hutchins) Stein.  Dorothy was born on July 14, 1918 on Akron Road in Tuscola County.   She married George Orville Miller on December 5, 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1995.  During WWII, she worked at the Vassar Foundry.  After the war she worked at Bron Mar, Dykehouse Pickles and Mayville Molding.  Dorothy loved to sew, do friends’ hair and dance.  After retirement, square dancing became Dorothy and George’s passion.  Together they spent 18 winters in Bradenton, Florida, and 2 winters in Yuma, Arizona.  Surviving are her children: Linda (Jake) Brown and George (Carol) Miller; a daughter-in-law: Janet Miller; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and one brother: James Stein.   Dorothy was preceded in death by her oldest son: Larry Miller; three sisters: Mamie, Millie and Esther; four brothers: Ferdinand, Ed, Ray and Lester; and two grandchildren: Doreen and John. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar.  The Rev. HELEN MARIE KORAL SCHACK, Felton, Delaware, formerly of Caro

Helen Marie Koral Schack of Felton, Delaware, formerly of Caro, age 90, passed away on July 1, 2014 at Capitol Nursing and Rehab Center in Dover, Delaware. Helen was born October 9, 1923 in Detroit, the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Wojtalik) Koral.  Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and lived in Caro and Fairgrove until moving to Delaware to live with her son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Shellie, from 1983-2011. She has been a resident of Capitol Rehabilitation and Health Center in Dover, Delaware for the past three years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, and Holy Cross Church in Dover, Delaware. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and especially making afghans and quilts for her family. Helen enjoyed traveling, especially the two trips that she and her sisters took to Belgium and Poland to meet relatives and discover those beautiful countries.  In October of 2013, Helen celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends from all over the United States, and with relatives coming from Belgium and Poland. It was a wonderful reunion weekend and celebration of Helen’s 90 years. She is survived by her sister, Rose Mantey of Fairgrove; three children, Matthew (Jim) Schack and his wife, Shellie, of Felton, Delaware, Vicki A. Thompson and husband, Greg, of Clayton, North Carolina, and Marlene H. Zaglowski and husband, Carl, of Erie, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Eric Heinzman, Christina Hoffman, Barbara Anderson, Patricia Davis, Kelley E. Schack, and Dennis W. Schack and his wife, Casey; six great-grandchildren, Sydona Heinzman, Zachary Hoffman, Veronica Davis, Brooklyn Schack, Madison Schack and Parker Schack; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew; son, Dennis; brother, William; sister, Stephana Hunter; and granddaughter, Kristen Schack. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating.  Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. ROBERT CHARLES “BOB” PHILLIPS, Kingston

Robert C. Phillips, 90, of Kingston, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Select Specialty Hospital, Saginaw.  He was born June 1, 1924 in Rockford, IA.  He married Elizabeth McDonald June 22, 1955 in Kingston United Methodist Church. Bob is a graduate of Kingston High School.  He served in the U.S. Army, C Company, 21st Regiment, 24th Infantry Division.  He served as 2nd Lieutenant Commanding Officer at the end of World  War II in Japan.  After his military service, Bob returned to Iowa to work in his uncles’ body shop.  After returning to the Kingston area, Bob owned and operated the Kingston Auto Body where they did auto body repair and offered a wrecker service.  Bob was a United States Postal Service Mail Carrier in the Kingston and Deford areas retiring after over 30 years of service.  He was a life member of the State Association Mounted Division Sheriff’s Posse recently receiving his 50 year jacket.  Bob was a 4H leader with the Saddleclub for 18 years.  He served on the Kingston Village Council for about five years and was a member of the Kingston Fire Department for 41 years serving as its Chief for seven years.  Bob was also a member of the Kingston VFW Post #5317 and the Kingston AMVETS Post #1072.  He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children:  Rob (Kim) Phillips of Kingston, Blaine (Lynn) Phillips of Kingston; grandchildren:  Dan, Ryan, Kristi and David; sister, Avril Graves of Waterford; several nieces and nephews.  Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Ardith Heineman. Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Debra L. Kranz, Funeral Service Celebrant, officiating.  Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Phillips:  Dan Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Kristi Phillips, David Phillips, Tim Ruggles and Ray Caverly. Mrs. Margaret M. Simon (Maggie) of Millington, age 85, passed away early Thursday morning July 10, 2014 at her Millington residence with family at her side.  Margaret was born January 2, 1929; she was the daughter of the late Linton and Marion (Dolliver) Atkin and has been a Millington resident for many years. In September of 1948 Margaret married Presley (Ed) Simon; Ed preceded Margaret in death in 2009. Before Ed’s passing, Margaret and Ed celebrated 61 years of marriage. Margaret was a loving wife, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her family always came first, and she loved spending time with all of them.  Margaret leaves:  her children, Marion and husband Randy Poe, Daniel and wife Yvonne Simon,  Alma and husband John Simpkins, Dave and wife Cindy Simon, Linda  and husband Ray Benson, Edward and wife Heather Simon, Susan and husband Ken Meharg and Steve and wife Georgia Simon, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, also two sisters, Irene Fellows, and Kathleen Verette, as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family. Besides her parents and husband, Margaret is also preceded in death by a son Price in 2013; 3-brothers: George, Donald, and Clare Atkin; 2 sisters, Edith Kennedy, and Marilyn Myers.  The Simon family will receive friends on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and also on Monday from 11:30 am until the services begin. Funeral services for Margaret will be on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Hanlin Funeral Home with a private burial to follow at the Gunnell Cemetery in Arbela Township. Julia Koppelberger, age 90, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her son Michael’s home.  She was born October 4, 1923 in Caro, Michigan to the late Roger and Clare Lloyd.  She married Owen L. Koppelberger on May 8, 1946 and he predeceased her on August 17, 2012. Surviving are four children: Donna Goforth, Bobbie (Robert) Hogarth, Owen R. “Ray” (Susan) Koppelberger and Michael Charter, ten grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Carol Hinkelman.  Julia was predeceased by a daughter, Judy Hannon. Cremation has taken place.  No services are scheduled at this time.

Linda F. Wroubel, 67, of Ubly, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014.

She was born February 1, 1947 in Bad Axe to the late Albert and Mary (Dropieski) Franzel.  Linda married Floyd Wroubel on September 5, 1964 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Argyle.  Linda is survived by her husband, Floyd; daughters Lori (Ed) Sadro of Ubly, Lisa (Ray) Stec of Caro, Angie (Jim) Iwankovitsch of Clarkston, and Amy (Dave) Retan of Caro; eight grandchildren; brother Norman (Beatrice) Franzel of Reese; sister Carolyn (Cliff) Davis of Deckerville and several nieces and nephews.  A private mass has been held.  Condolences may be shared at www.macalpinefuneralhome.com

Virginia Louise Farnum, age 79, of Vassar, died Friday, July 11, 2014. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Martin Funeral Home-Vassar with cremation to follow. Virginia’s family were be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm. and on Wednesday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the family. Virginia was born October 14, 1934, in Crawford County, Kansas. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and Alfreda (Sevart) Purdon. Virginia was salutatorian of her class, graduating in 1953. She married Bruce Farnum on October 27, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren, flower and vegetable gardening, making quilts for her loved ones, relaxing with a crossword puzzle, watching the Detroit Tigers and MSU football and basketball games. Left to cherish her memory are; her husband, Bruce; five children, Janice (Jeffrey) Bradley, Tim (Mary) Farnum, Bruce Farnum, Joyce (Suleiman) El-Barakat and James (Tammy) Farnum; 12 grandchildren Danielle, Mike, Chris, Gary Jr., Ian, Laith, Menwa, Greg, Isaac, Rachel, Kate, and Jackson; and seven great-grandchildren; five siblings, Patricia Talbert, Kate Wendt, Mary (Lamar) Nick, Barbara (Thomas) Kovack, Frank (Betty) Purdon and Charles (Morna) Purdon; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. EDWARD LEWICKI Kingston

Edward Lewicki, 90, of Kingston, died following a lengthy battle with cancer in his home with his family by his side on Sunday, July 13, 2014.  He was born November 24, 1923 in Detroit to John and Bernice (Czanecki) Lewicki.  He married Anna Buniack Kupiec September 28, 1957 in St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot.  Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and in Japan during the occupation at the conclusion of the war.  He returned home to the family farm and was employed in the housing industry for Guerdon Homes and Active Homes in Marlette retiring in 1992 as plant manager after over 40 years of service.  Ed was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church serving on the parish council, ushers club and singing with the parish choir.  He also served the people of the Kingston community as a member of the Kingston Fire Department retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service as a firefighter.  Ed was a member of the village council and a member of the zoning committee and the board of review committee.  He was also a member of Kingston VFW Post #5317 and Knights of Columbus Cass City-Gagetown Council #8892.  Ed is survived by his wife, Anna; children:  David (Gail Kane) Lewicki of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel (Araceli) Lewicki of Rockford, Thomas (Deborah Underhill) Lewicki of Rockford, Ronald (Wendy) Lewicki of Macomb, Patricia (Larry) Tomaszewski of Caro, Marjorie Biebel of Caro, William Kupiec of Kingston; sisters, Wanda Schram of Warren, Helen Piana of Madison Heights; brother-in-law, Carl (Evelyn) Buniack of Snover; sister-in-law, Stella Lewicki of Houghton Lake; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice Lewicki; brothers:  Stanley Lewicki, Joseph Hardy; sisters:  Sophie Jacquays, Jeanette Wesolowski, Lillian Hardy.  Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Michael Catholic Church, Wilmot with Rev. Christian Tabares officiating.  Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wilmot. Grace Ottilia Anna Winkoff of Caro, age 97, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Covenant Health Care – Harrison in Saginaw.  The former Grace Schirmer was born May 15, 1917 in Casco Township, St. Clair County, the daughter of the late Roy and Irene (Granzow) Schirmer.  Grace was raised on a farm and was a hard working woman.  On February 23, 1935 she was united in marriage with the late Nickolas Winkoff in Casco Township.  They lived in the Detroit area and upon Nickolas’ retirement, they moved to Murphy Lake and then to Caro.  Grace loved her family and enjoyed her numerous friends.  She was an avid Detroit Tiger fan and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, knitting and quilting.  Grace was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Joy Group.  Grace is survived by one daughter and her spouse, Doris Ann (Arthur) Bock of Armada; two granddaughters and their spouses, Kimberly Ann (John) Streeter of Almont, Karen Ann (Jeffrey) Thibault of Utica; five great-grandchildren, Andrew (Kera) Streeter of Shelby Township, Timothy Streeter, Raquel Thibault, Brandon Thibault and Sydney Thibault; and her nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating.  Entombment will be in the Jean Starr Memorial Mausoleum at the Richmond City Cemetery in Richmond, Michigan.  The family received friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ryan Leslie Roselles (Jr.) of Millington, passed away suddenly at his residence in Millington Sunday evening July 13, 2014, Ryan was 24.  Ryan is the son of Ryan Lee and Tammy L. (Nelson) Roselles. Ryan was born in Watertown, New York on February 6, 1990, and grew up in the Millington area. Ryan had been working at Millington Pizza as a cook.  Ryan loved spending time with family, friends, and he loved gardening; Ryan had the touch to make things grow.  He will be greatly missed by many, but his memory will be cherished forever by all.  Ryan leaves his parents, Ryan Lee and Tammy, two brothers Cody and Nick Roselles, grandparents Max and Linda Nelson, Les and Cheryl Roselles, great-grandmother Lorraine Roselles, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family and many friends.  Ryan is preceded in death by his great- grandparents.  The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and an hour prior to funeral services beginning on Friday.
