Caroline Margaret Hebert, age 83 years, passed away peacefully September 18, 2013 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw. Carrie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was born on February 21, 1930 in Bay City, the daughter of the late John and Stella (Sczepanski) Wejsa. On December 30, 1950 she married Leo J. Hebert, and after 59 years of marriage he preceded her in death on March 15, 2010. One of the most important things in Carrie’s life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and reading. Carrie was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Surviving family include her six children, Linda (Warren) Smith, Sheryl (Douglas) Garner, Leo Jay (Karen) Hebert, Michael (Sue) Hebert, Todd Hebert and Patrick (Susan) Hebert; grandchildren, Lance Ziegler, Tiffany (Scott) Lobodzinski, Adam, Justin and Ryan Hebert; step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Kern; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and David Ziegler, Olivia Pyryt, Eliza Lobodzinski and Allison Kern; a brother, Louis Wejsa and many nieces and nephews. Carrie was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Stanley Wejsa, Vern Craig, Irene Lougher, Edward Wejsa, Dorothy Davidson, Cecile Hoppe and Leonard Wejsa. In accordance with Carrie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar.
