Edwin Maurice Aymer, age 73, of Fairgrove, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor. Ed retired as a Senior Inspector from the Michigan Department of Transportation after 36 years of service, his biggest project was the Zilwaukee Bridge on which he spent 9 years. He was very devoted to civil service as evidenced by his becoming a Scout Master, a Fireman and Fairgrove’s Fire Chief for 10 years. He also served as President to the Michigan Firemen’s Association and a member of the Lion’s Club. He enjoyed golfing and going to Florida for the winter. Ed is survived by his wife, Caron of 51 years; sons, James (Carolyn) Aymer of Farmington Hills, Chip (Torri) Aymer of Grand Rapids, daughter Anna Ruth Aymer of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Brent and Brianna Stutso, Shane and Kory Aymer, Jacob, Gabriel and Eve Van Kirk, Alex and Regan Juras. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, brother and his daughter, Melinda Van Kirk. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 4th, 2014 at the Fairgrove United Methodist Church, 5116 Center St., Fairgrove at 11:00am. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to sign up to be an organ donor or a gift to the Fairgrove United Methodist Church.
