Gail Myers of Pasadena, Texas, formerly of Caro, age 61, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw, following a short illness. Gail was born December 7, 1952 in Caro, the daughter of Harriet (Sutherland) Fibranz and the late Otto Fibranz, and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1971.  She spent all of her working career in retail sales with Walgreen’s. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pasadena, Texas. Gail spent her free time playing Sudoku and cards in a canasta club. She is survived by her mother, Harriet Fibranz of Caro; six siblings, Charlotte LaBlanc of Shelby Township, Dennis and Linda Langley of Caro, Lt. Col. William Fibranz (RET) USAF and his wife, Jennifer, of Richardson, Texas, Edward and Connie Fibranz of Vassar, Karen and Michael Yens, Sr. of Silverwood, Brenda and Duane Will of Vassar; two aunts and one uncle, Krista Fibranz of Dayton, Ohio, Bruce and Jean Fibranz of Deer Park, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; the love of her life, Jerry Myers; and her best friend, Alice Geister. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Connie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Pastor Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. Arthur J. Spear, Kingston

Arthur J. Spear,  age  95, life long resident of Kingston, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home in Koylton Township. He was born November 17, 1918 in Marlette, son to the late Irl and Etta (Arthur) Spear. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1936. He married Hazel J. Stimson February 10, 1951 in Marlette, she preceded him in death January 20, 1990. Mr. Spear worked at Active Homes, Guerdon Industries, Marlette Homes, Kingston Schools as a Bus Mechanic and farmed, retiring in 1971. Arthur enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by:  Ralph Spear (Son) of Kingston, Harold Spear (Son) of Kingston, Marjorie and Roger Boggs (Daughter) of Dry Ridge, KY, Loretta Schlink (Daughter) of Reese, Ruth and Mark Wnuk (Daughter) of Essexville, Irene and Dennis Traxler (Daughter) of Kingston, Lloyd Spear (Brother) of Garden City, George and Kathy Spear (Brother) of Almont, Erma Morse (Sister) of Clifford; 4 grandchildren: Kim, Melanie, Tim and Luke; 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Irl and Etta, wife Hazel, grandson Dennis and sister Leola. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with  Pastor Len Wyatt from the Kingston Wesleyan Church officiating. Jack Poppy, Unionville

Jack Poppy, age 78, of Unionville, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region, Bay City, after sustaining injuries from a fall at home. Jack was born January 4, 1936 in Unionville, MI to Wilbur and Mildred (Russell) Poppy. He married Carol Roemer on May 16, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. He was a lifetime farmer in the Unionville area and a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Columbia Corners. He served in the Marine Corp from 1954-1956. Jack is survived by his wife, Carol of 50 years; his son, Todd Poppy and fiancé, Heather Wrubel, of Brighton; one grandson, Jarrett; one brother, Richard (Audrey) Poppy; one sister, Patricia Pomerville; and one sister-in-law, Helen Poppy. A sister-in-law and her husband Janet and Ken Rink also survive him, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenton and Russell, his mother and father-in-law, Walt and Ruth Roemer, and one brother-in-law, Derward Pomerville. Visitation will take place Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 12-8pm. The funeral will be Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Columbia Corners. Visitation begins at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Peter J. Orlando, Mayville

Peter Jerome Orlando, age 73 years, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw.  He was born on November 14, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Jerome and Mary (Serra) Orlando.   On February 14, 1970, he married the former Sharon Sutherland.

Peter retired from Chrysler in 1996, after 30 years of service.  He honorably served his country in the US Army from 1962 to 1964. Surviving family include his wife, Sharon; step-children, Deborah (Dennis) Cihak and David (Rhonda) Piper; grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Beute, Evan (Jamie) Cihak and Michael  (Jennifer) Cihak; great-grandchildren, Monroe, McKinley, Ariana, Adrian, Rylee and Jackson; also surviving are his sister, Grace (Buck) Frederickson and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. Pastor Lyle Ohman officiating.

The family will greet friends on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.  Private burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

 

Doris K. Kundinger, Sebewaing

Doris K. Kundinger, age 87, of Sebewaing, passed away Thursday morning, September 4, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City.

Doris was born August 12, 1927 in Amelith, Michigan, the daughter of the late John C. and Alma B. (Keidel) Walter. She was united in marriage to Arnold H. Kundinger on May 8, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church, Amelith, in Bay County.

Doris was a lifelong farmer in the Sebewaing area. She was a member of New Salem Lutheran Church and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh. She was a member of the Farm Bureau. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling, quilting and playing cards.

Survived by his daughters: Linda (Edward) Hamilton-Jasman of Richville, Carolyn Keipinger of Reese, Lois (Jeff) Kroll of Sebewaing, Evelyn Stringer of Sebewaing and Janice (Arnold “A.J.”) Brown of Snover; daughter-in-law, Vicki Kundinger of Elk Rapids; sister-in-law, Lila Walter; 14 grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter;  13 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends: Lila Bolton, April Day and Ricky Wise.

Preceded in death by her husband, Arnold H. Kundinger; son, Duane Kundinger; sister, Harriet (Ed) Rogers; brother, Marvin Walter; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. Visitation is Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm. The funeral will be Sunday, September 7, 2014 at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Loraine Hess of Caro, age 87, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, following a lingering illness.  She was born February 23, 1927 in Watrousville, the daughter of the late Russell and Ella (Fulerton) Farnum. Loraine was united in marriage with Clyde Leo Hess on August 9, 1947 at the Watrousville United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1983.  She was employed at the Caro State Hospital as a housekeeper, and in her spare time enjoyed sewing, knitting and spending time sharing the family pool with the community. Loraine is survived by three children, Molly Sieland of Roseville, John Hess of Caro, Mark Hess of Caro; brother, Bruce Farnum of Vassar; seven grandchildren, Gina Schell, James (Kelly) Schell, Paul Clara, Christy (Rick) Crittenden, Johnnie (Toni) Hess, Carrie Hess, Amanda (Jeremy) Romain; and thirteen great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ella Sue Cross; five brothers, John, Robert, Duane, Russell and Billie; and three sisters, Beatrice Grabowski, Gloria (Grabitz) Johnson and Virginia Sampson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at the Juniata Township Cemetery in Watrousville. THOMAS W. BRADLEY

Thomas W. Bradley,75, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 peacefully at his home. He was born on June 16, 1939 to the late William and Margaret Helen (Prevost) Bradley.  Tom started working as a young man for the Bradley Funeral Home and continued to work until he was graduated by Midland High School in 1957.  He then went on to earn his B.S. in Geography from Central Michigan University in 1961. Following that, he taught in the Harrison Schools for one year and then returned to CMU to earn his Masters degree in 1963.  Tom taught in the Kingston schools and Brown City Adult Education for over 30 years.  He returned to work in the funeral home industry for over 35 years coming back to his family’s business which had name changes from the Bradley Funeral Home, to the Miner-Bradley Funeral Home, to what is now the Smith-Miner Funeral Home.  Tom was an active member of the Midland Historical Society.  His unending knowledge of the Midland area will be greatly missed.  He was also a board member for Little Forks Conservancy. Tom was a lifelong member of St. Brigid of Kildare Church.Tom is survived by his sister, Margaret (George “Dave”) Evans; and many cousins from the Prevost, Alguire, and Bradley families; and many friends.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church with Fr. Pat O’Connor officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 5-7pm at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with a vigil service at 6:30pm and on Monday from 10am at the church until the time of service. Burial will follow at Old Calvary Cemetery.

DARLENE BRANDOW, Akron

Darlene Brandow of Akron, age 66, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 at her home.  She was born May 19, 1948 in Gallipolis, Ohio, the daughter of the late Bert Hess and Vetta Crawford.  Darlene was self-employed as a housekeeper.  Darlene married Randy Brandow on November 20, 1982 at Shabonna Church of Christ.  She loved her cats and her dog, Sandy, and enjoyed canning, playing Yahtzee and Euchre and watching the TV series “The Walking Dead”.  She is survived by her children, Leonard Wilcox, Jr., Duane Wilcox, April & Gus Hernandez, Lisa & John Rands; twenty-one grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Kim Serwatowski, Kenneth Smith, Nancy Crawford, Bob Clark, Dick Clark, KD Hess and Frank Hess.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Wilcox; step-father, Freeman Smith; one granddaughter, Channel Wilcox; and two brothers, Don Clark and Bert Alferd Hess. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the New Hope Church in Akron with Pastor Felix Martinez officiating. Audrey Ann Molloy (Block),  79, of Caro, formerly of Minden City, went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2014, at the Tuscola Medical Care Facility. She was born on March 18, 1935 the daughter of Herman and Sylvia (Fischer) Block. Audrey was a devoted daughter, loving mother and wife. She is survived by her mother, Sylvia of Caro, husband Robert of Caro, sons, Michael (Kathy) Adamski of Grosse Pointe, Alan Adamski of Michigan, Terry (Linda) Adamski of Brighton, Granddaughters:  Amy Adamski, Nicole (Alex) McBride, Brandy (David) Szen, Great Granddaughter, Olivia Szen.  Step Children: Denise (Doug) Geraldo, Diane Molloy, Daniel (Terry) Molloy, David Molloy and Dennis Molloy. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Herman. Audrey will be missed by many family & friends. Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory, Bay City. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Campus, St. Christopher Parish Catholic Church, Caro. David John Datz, Vassar

David John Datz passed peacefully at home on September 3, 2014 surrounded by his family after a two year fight against kidney cancer.  Dave was born on October 2, 1951 in Saginaw Michigan; the only son of John and Kathryn Datz. He grew up in Vassar, MI where he attended school, graduating from Vassar High School in 1969. After high school, Dave enlisted in the US Army including service in Vietnam. He was proud to have served his country as had his father before him. After military service, he went to work on the bottling line at the Carling’s Brewery in Frankenmuth, MI.  This work led to a lifetime career in the bottling industry, including 20+ years with Pepsico, a job he truly enjoyed while he got to travel the country and work with many great people. Dave was in charge of many innovative products with Pepsico and highly regarded in his field. He was employed with Pepsico at the time of the onset of his illness. In 1980, he married Mary Jo Alvord of Millington and they shared many trips to northern Michigan especially to Torch Lake where Dave was happiest being on the water while piloting his boat. Dave loved the out of doors especially fishing, bow-and-arrow deer hunting, snowmobiling, also Friday night card games with his buddies, the MSU Spartans, and his cat Sniper. He also loved designing and creating with his hands and would willingly tackle such projects as building a cooker and enjoying Camp David, his favorite retreat in recent years. Family and friends celebrated many occasions at his home where Dave was host, and barbeque cook extraordinaire, enjoying games and spirits in the downstairs. During the past two years, David was blessed to have a respite in his illness where he enjoyed good health which allowed him two blessed events, walking his daughter Mari down the aisle and seeing the birth of his grandson. David is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Jo, of Davison, daughter and son-in-law Mari and Steve Trupiano of Ortonville, and infant grandson Mason. He is also survived by sister Angela Datz Strawn (husband Richard) of Sacramento, CA along with in-laws Bill and Mary Alvord of Millington, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his parents John and Kathryn Datz of Vassar. The family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and also at the St. Johns Catholic Church in Davison MI on Saturday from 9:300 am until services begin. Funeral mass for David will be celebrated at 10:30 am Saturday Sept. 6, 2014  at the St. Johns Catholic Church in Davison MI, Fr. Carl Simon will celebrate the mass. The burial will follow at the Millington Twp Cemetery in Millington, MI. The cemetery services will be concluded with Military honors conducted by the Davison American Legion. WILBUR J. NORRINGTON, SR., Caro

Wilbur J. Norrington, Sr. of Caro, age 86, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab in Mayville, following a courageous battle with cancer. Wilbur was born October 5, 1927 in Unionville, the son of the late Roy & Luella (Esckelson) Norrington, and was a lifelong county resident. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1946, serving in Greenland, as well as Connally, Mitchell and Scott Air Force Bases stateside. Wilbur was united in marriage with the former Betty Jane Dost on March 13, 1948 in Mayville after meeting her only three weeks prior while home on leave from the service. Despite their brief engagement, the couple celebrated a long sixty-six years together. Wilbur was employed for twenty-three years by the State of Michigan, first as a bookkeeper for the Caro Regional Center, and later as a meat inspector and storekeeper. He continued his work as a food inspector for the next twelve years with the USDA in Caro. Wilbur also drove bus for Caro Community Schools for ten years, and in his early years served as a bookkeeper for Whalen Construction and Square Deal in Caro. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro, a past governor of the Caro Moose Lodge, member of the Polish American Club in Caro, American Legion Post #7, AMVETS of Ellington, Florida, and was a dedicated volunteer for the Caro Jaycees. Wilbur will be remembered for his vigorous spirit and countless talents. He enjoyed carpentry and built the home that he and Betty resided in for over twenty-five years. He was an avid golfer and bowler, for which he had a hole-in-one and a 300 game, and also enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, camping and traveling with his family. Wilbur is survived by his wife, Betty Norrington of Caro; three children and their spouses, Virginia & Tom Lounsbury of Cass City, John & Gloria Norrington of Manistique, Raymond & Jackie Dost of Saginaw; eleven grandchildren, Steven, Jacob, Angela, Ryan, Joshua, Amie, Shawna, Joseph, Janice, Jennifer, and Jillian; twenty-two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Norrington of Flint; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wilbur was preceded in death by an infant daughter; three sisters and their husbands, Ruth Norrington, Nellie & Donald Kramer, Elsie & Ken Losee; one brother, Elmer Norrington; his father- and mother-in-law, Paul & Marie Dost; brothers-in-law, Charles Beedle, Don Dost, Tim Lynch; sisters-in-law, Virginia and Frieda Dost; one niece, Sharon Losee; and four nephews, Ronald Dost, Dennis Beedle, Tom Lynch and Chuck Dost. In keeping with Wilbur’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Gawne, William Thomas, Vassar, Michigan

William T. Gawne, age 84 years, passed away on September 11, 2014, at his home.  He was born in Midland, Michigan on March 26, 1930, one of seven children born to Grafton and Gladys (Dues) Gawne.  Bill served in the United States Army and worked 30 years for the Buick Division of General Motors, retiring in 1980.  He loved restoring antique cars, especially his Model T, and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and spending time with family and friends.  Bill was a life-long and valued member of the Vassar Eagles No. 2380.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Betty J. Craig, four children: William E. Gawne, Richard Gawne, Cheryl (Rick) Olsen and Brian (fiancé, Canemi) Gawne, a very special family supporter, Pennie Schoenow, his grandchildren:  T.J., Candi (Josh), Richard, Jon, Michael (Kristi), Chad (Danely) Matt (Alicia) and Victoria, his great-grandchildren:  Garrett, Taylor, Grant, Alyssa, Makenzi, Natalie, Isabella, Mallory, Lily Anna and Ariana, his brothers:  Cy (Bonnie) and Jerry (Pat), and a sister, Margaret. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George and his sisters:  Betty and Bernice.

Funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St., Vassar.  The Rev. Cathy Christman will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family for a memorial fund to be established in Bill’s name.

 

 

JOHN R. MARTIN, MT. PLEASANT

John R. Martin of Mt. Pleasant, age 71, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Andahwod Assisted Living Facility in Mt. Pleasant, following a lingering illness.  He was born November 27, 1942 in Caro, the son of the late Leo and Madeline (Freeman) Martin.  John was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, and enjoyed watching sports and going to the casino.

John is survived by one sister and her husband, Virginia (Robert) LaMere of Bay City; one sister-in-law, Viola Martin of Caro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one brother, William Martin; and one niece, Julie Ann Marie Martin.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Billie Jo and Ryan Davies for all their help with “Uncle John”.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Arnold Burger officiating. Lloyd Gray of Gagetown, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014 at his home.  He was born April 6, 1944 in Pontiac, the son of the late Floyd Ceasal and Myrtle (Wilson) Gray.  Lloyd served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky with Company C, 12th Battalion, 4th Regiment.  He leaves behind the love of his life Helen Pyrek of Gagetown.  Lloyd worked for many years for General Motors as well as with his brother, Charles, in the building trades.  He enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, watching movies and exploring.

Including Helen, Lloyd is survived by three children and their spouses, Lloyd “Mike” Gray, Jr. and his wife, Gracie of Long Beach, California, and their daughter, Elsie; John and Patricia Gray of Tehachapi, California, Michelle Gray Ramirez and her husband, Vincent, of Long Beach, California, and their children Chrystel, Angel and Christine; his siblings, Deloris Richardson of Cass City, Karen and Willis Wirick of Warren, Charles and Tolandia Gray of Caro, Ron and Joan Gray of Caro, Deborah and Clarence Baker of Caro, Doug and Mag Gray of Gagetown, Pat and Andy Murawski of Owendale; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathon Gray; and three brothers, Jack, Harvey and Jim Gray.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Wigand officiating. Burial will follow at Novesta Township Cemetery in Cass City. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. CAMPBELL, Terry Lee, age 52 of Fairgrove, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, September 12, 2014, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Pastor Rich Lawther will officiate, with cremation to follow. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home-Fairgrove on Tuesday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Family Wishes. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Terry was born October 15, 1961, in Bay City, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thane and Roma Lee (Humm) Campbell. He attended Akron-Fairgrove Schools, graduating with the Class of 1979. After high school, he went on to attend Lincoln College of Technology, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Terry worked at Janson Equipment Company in Reese for many years. He was an extremely talented mechanic and welder who could fix anything with a motor. He loved music and had a beautiful tenor voice, singing at many weddings, including his own. He was a fun loving, kind, generous man who will be missed by his family and many friends. Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Craig and Evan; former wife, Judith Ann Sommer; mother, Roma Lee Campbell; sister, Denise and husband, John McQuillan; brother, Keith Campbell; two nephews, Aaron Sanback and Justin and wife, Allison Campbell; friend, Kathy Morton; and his faithful companion, Izzy. He was preceded in death by his father, Thane Campbell; niece, Samantha Campbell; and nephew, Joshua Sanback. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Critical Care Medical Unit 6D at University Hospital in Ann Arbor. Rita Bruce, age 84 years, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Friday, September 19, 2014.  Rita Selewski was born on May 27, 1930 in Detroit, MI to the late George and Mary Sellers.  She married James Bruce on April 21, 1951.  He survives her.  Rita was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

Also surviving Rita are 2 children: Karin Mason of Birch Run and Kevin and Lynn Bruce of Lapeer; 7 grandchildren: Kevin, Jenna, Cody, Ashley, Ciara Mason, Trevor and Evan Bruce; 2 great-grandchildren: Connor and Joshua Mason; a sister, Deloris Sabon and a brother, George and Cynthia Sellers.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola St., Frankenmuth, MI.  Fr. Barbara Jean Shagena of Cass City, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. Barbara Stewart was born January 24, 1946 in Caro, the daughter of the late Glenn and Betty (Force) Stewart.  She attended and graduated from Villa Maria High School in Grand Rapids. Barbara was a home health aide and worked for private home care agencies.  In her free time, she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.  Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo, going to casinos, and making objects on plastic canvas, whether it be magnets or large box figures as Christmas ornaments.

Barbara is survived by three children, Charles and Tonya Creason, Jr. of Cass City, James and Katie Creason of Vassar, Melissa Shagena Payne of Cass City; six grandchildren, Alek, Arek, Zane, Brendan, Jackie and Andrew; her siblings, Karen and Ken Spencer of Cass City, Sherrie Spencer of Toledo, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Stewart; and one sister, Kathryn Sandmann.

In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family remembrance will be held at a later date. DAVID KENNETH WARK, AKRON

David Kenneth Wark, age 81 years of Akron, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014. He was born in Bay City on December 28, 1932, a son of John and Ruth Wark. On September 21, 1957, he married Esther Helmreich. Dave served with the US Army and retired from the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors in 1991 after 32 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 21, Unionville and a long-time member of their bowling league, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Unionville. Surviving along with Esther, his loving wife of almost 57 years, are their children, Kenneth of Tennessee and Connie living in Grand Rapids; grandchildren, David (Jessica), Jonathan, and Nicole (Matthew) McDonald, all of Tennessee, and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Jake (Barbara) Wark and Joe and a sister, Naomi. Preceding him in death was a sister, Esther Reigh. The funeral service took place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Stolarczyk officiating. Interment in Wisner Township Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Unionville Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Church Youth Group or American Legion Post 421.

Paul Edward Kittles, Watrousville

Paul Edward Kittles passed away September 7, 2014 at the age of 85 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. Paul was born April 23 1929 in Wheelemburg, Ohio.  Preceding Paul’s death are his parents Jess and Laura June “Hunter” Kittles; his brothers Bob, Marvin, Ralph, Charles and Ryland; his in-laws Ralph and Thelma “Chapel” Shurlow, his wife Delores of forty-seven years. Surviving Paul is Robin Kittles, daughter, of Watrousville and a sister Vera “Kittles” Chapel of Waterford.  John & Joan “Shurlow” Graham of Caro and Pastor Richard & Janet “Shurlow” Lashley of Sun City Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.  Paul served in the Korean War. After his service, he came to Michigan and worked at Pontiac Motors.  He met his wife Del  and they were married on May 11, 1957 in Caro at the Shurlow home.  In 1958, they moved to Caro. Paul went to work for the Caro Community School as a custodian and retired in 1986. Paul enjoyed his work, the students and teachers. He appreciated the ones who have been friends over the years. Paul loved God, his family, his church, and enjoyed fishing.  He helped many people and was always joking and full of fun. He is truly missed and we are thankful for Paul’s life.  Memorials may be given to the Vassar Nazarene Church and Robin Kittles, 2061 1st Street, Vassar, MI 48768.  The family thanks the Ransford and Collon Funeral home for arrangements and their help.  A memorial will be at a later date.

 

HELEN MARIE BRADLEY Caro

Helen Marie Bradley of Caro, age 94, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City.  She was born September 27, 1919 in Cass City, the daughter of the late John and Matilda (Cliff) Zellar.  Helen was united in marriage with Max Bradley on May 16, 1939 in Napoleon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death.  Helen was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church, Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church, and most recently the Fruitland Park United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, Florida.  She was a homemaker and loved cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting for other people.  She also enjoyed golf, and was very active in her church.  Helen is survived by three children and their spouses, Joan & Donald Simmons of Caseville, Sherry & Charlie Eversole of California, Nona & Chuck Perrin of California; six grandchildren, Deanna Frick, Kristie Peto, Bradley Arhen, Aja Perrin, Todd Reif, Dolan Eversole; and eight great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Gayle Maxine and Tamara Faye; and two brothers and one sister.   A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Ellington Township Cemetery with Mike Tharp officiating.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Northwood Meadows, c/o Joan Simmons, 205 W.
