Laura Estelle Vandercook, 84, of Wells Twp., Caro, MI., died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, Michigan. She was born January 2, 1929 in Highland Park, Michigan the daughter of the late James and Grace (Collins) Godsey. She was a 1947 graduate of Royal Oak High School. Laura married Sidney Glen Vandercook on December 11, 1948 in Royal Oak. They lived in the Royal Oak for many years before moving to this area 13 years ago. Laura was a foster parent for the Childrens Aid Society of Detroit for many years. She was a 4-H and Girl Scout Volunteer. Laura enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She is survived by her husband Sidney Glen,Cindy & Raymond Jacoby (daughter) of New York, L. Jane Carson (daughter) of Saginaw, Glenda & Vincent Cino (daughter) of New York; Sidney & Lupe Vandercook (son) of Peck, Mark & Denise Vandercook (son) of Caro, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother James and a sister, Patricia Ferguson. Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Sandusky on Wednesday from 1 – 8 PM and on Thursday from 10 – 11 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Sandusky. Rev. David Dietzel will be officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Melvin.
