CECIL WALLACE Caro

Cecil Wallace of Caro, age 94, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at his home.  He was born on the family farm May 26, 1919, the son of the late Edward and Ethel (Brown) Wallace.  Cecil was a 1937 graduate of Mayville High School and went on to Michigan State University to study agriculture.  Cecil was a farmer all of his life.  He also was a member and Past Master of the Mayville Masonic Lodge.  In addition, Cecil was a board member of the Tuscola County Farm Bureau, Mayville Community Schools, Mayville State Bank, and the Michigan Crop Improvement Association in the seed potato division.  Cecil enjoyed playing golf with friends and family and was a member of the M-46 horseshoe club.  He enjoyed traveling and spent 25 winters in Florida with his wife. Cecil is survived by his wife of over 63 years, the former Pauline Bennett whom he married March 18, 1950; four children, Jim (Tina) Wallace, Marsha (Joe) Helias, Anita (Keith) Davison, and Alisa (John) Pollion; nine grandchildren, Keri (Kirk) Murray, Melanie (Sean Sanford) Wallace, Jake Davison, Amanda Wallace, Adrianne Wallace and her fiance, Gus Povirk, Daniel Pollion, Candice (Brad) White, Jeff Helias, Aaron (Samantha) Helias; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Hudson, Abigail White, Anthony, Nicholas, Logan and Annelies Helias; a sister-in-law, Vivian Binder; brothers-in-law, Bill (Arlene) Bennett and Orson (Jean) Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marilyn; and his sister, Dora (John) Nichols.  The family would like to extend special thanks to Cecil’s caregivers, Tom, Renee, Curtis and Tasha. In keeping with Cecil’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan.  The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Collon Funeral Home of Caro.  Friends may share memories, thoughts and prayers online at www.RansfordCollon.com.
